Wanita hamil dianjurkan untuk mengikuti senam hamil. Teknik relaksasi melalui latihan pernapasan dan pemusatan perhatian sangat berguna menenangkan pikiran dan tubuh. Kegiatan ini bisa dilakukan saat usia kandungan mencapai enam bulan pada kehamilan normal dengan rekomendasi dokter atau bidan. Hampir tiap rumah sakit dan rumah bersalin ada latihan senam kehamilan yang biasanya dilatih oleh bidan.
Jika calon ibu tidak sempat atau tidak memiliki akses ke tempat senam semacam itu, ibu dapat pula melakukan senam hamil sendiri di rumah. Senam sebaiknya dilakukan secara teratur dan dalam suasana tenang dengan menggunakan pakaian yang cukup longgar. Dianjurkan dengan menggunakan aroma terapi dan penggunaan musik klasik. Aroma terapi secara sederhana bisa dilakukan dengan menghirup wangi bunga di taman.
