This is part 1 of the Fantastic Fables by Ambrose Bierce (1842-1914).
Of the ones that are of a similar title, the story is quite different from what would normally be Aesop;
often with a twisted humor. Some are outright hilarious the way he makes the original fable have a different meaning.
The stories are slightly of a more mature nature but still readable by any age.
There are no morals to go with these but the meaning is still there.
