Ionic Selfbuild is a simple App built with the open source Ionic hybrid framework. The Ionic framework allows cross platform mobile Apps to be created using AngularJS, CSS, HTML5 and Cordova. This App provides minor details about a number of the stages that had to be gone through in the construction of a house. The house has a passive foundation, block construction with a 200 mm cavity and insulated to a high degree. Great attention was placed on keeping cold bridging to a minimum with the use of separate lintels on each leaf, insulated wall ties, keeping the cavity clean etc. Openings around windows and doors were closed with polystyrene insulation held in place with foam as opposed to the old method of using blocks with only 20 mm of insulation. The roof was also designed to be as energy efficient as possible. The thermal mass of the Gutex boards dampens the sun during the summer so upstairs does not get unbearably hot. This is very important in a dormer and works to great effect. The Gutex boards also provide an insulation function during winter. Using counter battens along with normal tiling battens and a breathable felt allows insulation to be placed between the rafters to the full depth of the rafters. That means there is no need to keep an air circulation space underneath the felt.
