Having confidence in oneself while, at the same time, trusting in others. This is the motto that is learnt by the young artists’ apprentices as soon as they join the globally successful company that we all know as Cirque du Soleil. Their somersaults and perfect balance would be unachievable were it not for the real harmony that exists between the performers who share the stage at any given moment. Their ever-more daring feats can only have one basis: faith in people and faith in the team.

The same argument was asserted time and time again by the great visionary of the 20th Century, S. Jobs, a pioneer capable of understanding that, in order for companies to work, you have to create a suitable habitat in which employees can feel part of a whole without losing their own defining features as individuals. BBVA is a firm believer in the idea that the workers are the driving force of an organization. Teamwork always bears fruit.
This book, a compendium of stories and lives, sets out to show this fact. The New York City Fire Department, the ever-growing network of food banks, the Cervantes Institute, the national football team, the World Health Organization, The Beatles... these are all examples that prove that the age-old principle that ‘together, we can do it’ can become a reality.

The enthusiasm, security and satisfaction that only the feeling of belonging to a team can arouse are the pillars that underpin any group philosophy, in which comradeship flows towards a single objective: reaching the goals that we have dreamt of. “Everything seems impossible, until it’s done”, as Nelson Mandela once said, himself a great believer in the power of an outstretched hand, a shoulder to lean on, of moving forward together at a steady pace and fight to overcome adversity. We can only find strength in unity.
