This is popular manga artist Rieko Saibara's first e-book. Since 2002, Saibara's manga series "Mainichi Kaasan" (Everyday mom) — based on Saibara's adventures in child-rearing, a job she humorously calls a "combat sport" — has appeared once a week in the Mainichi Shimbun's national morning edition. The first two years of the manga were compiled into a printed book titled "Mainichi Kaasan: Kanihaha-hen," published in March 2004. This popular work has now made its debut as an e-book.
"Mainichi Kaasan: Kanihaha-hen" earned Saibara a Cultural Affairs Agency media-art festival award, while she won an Osamu Tezuka Cultural Prize for "Mainichi Kaasan" and "Jokyo Monogatari."
"Mainichi Kaasan" has also been turned into a TV Tokyo anime that has continued since April 2009. On Feb. 5, 2011, a film with the same title will hit theaters across Japan. In the lead-up to this movie we are offering Saibara's e-book, which is regularly priced at 450 yen, for a discounted price of 230 yen until Feb. 4, 2011.
