Sally Pomme Clayton first published 'The King with Dirty Feet' in 1991 in 'Time for Telling' Kingfisher Books Ltd. The story is popular and included in many collections, such as ‘More stories for 5 year olds’(1994) edited by Julia Eccleshare. It was part of an exhibition about shoes in New York (2000). And the BBC's Tweenies based an episode on the story (2007).
