The basic theme of this short fictional story evolves around our main character, whose name is Joey Zee.
Joey comes from an urban middle class family which includes his Mother, Grandmother and her old red, ever squawking parakeet named ‘Blue’.
He is just like any other normal six year old kid who’s looking forward to his first day at Newell Elementary School.
However, Joey soon becomes troubled about the perceived way in which he is being treated there. With this in mind, he decides to quit school.
As you can imagine, Joey’s decision causes quite a stir at home when his Mother is contacted by his first grade teacher, Ms. Noble, who has grown concerned about the pupils' unexplained absence.
In the end, however; with the love and understanding of both his family and teacher; our little Joey comes to learn a few valuable lessons about himself…and life.
…Lessons, which I believe, we all could profit from.
