The lotus, which grows out of mud unsoiled, has been a symbol of character. Like all other living beings, it has its splendorous prime and magnificent, lamentable autumn days. The set of photos titled “Withering Lotuses” is particularly to my liking. In face of ice and snow, the lotuses have not given in; though in their last days, they retain their pride. Believing that spring also comes after autumn, they leave their seeds and wait for the next cycle of life.
A man needs some spirit, which emanates energy that cannot be underestimated. The publication of Mr. Sun Zhanli’s four-volume Chinese Charms has once again proved this point!
