The Irish News Workplace & Employment Awards send out the incontrovertible message that, in Northern Ireland, people represent our most prized competitive advantage.
Despite the fiercest imaginable competition, the north has consistently outperformed many regions in Britain and has shown its talent pool can meet the demands of even the most advanced sectors.
The companies and people we are celebrating through these prestigious awards are absolutely central to the shared aim of growing a dynamic and innovative economy and to helping raise living standards across Northern Ireland.
At a time when minds are focused on a return to economic growth and the need to restore business confidence, the 2010 Irish News Workplace & Employment Awards will put the spotlight on a formidable array of exceptional organisations and workforces.
As our past awards have underlined, companies – and the people – in Northern Ireland have the ability and commitment to serve the economy well.
A number of new categories have been introduced this year, and the awards are open to all companies and organisations, regardless of size.
The recognition of being "best" in a chosen category will be achieved through a rigorous judging process by a team of industry-related adjudicators, and is then celebrated at a gala dinner in Belfast in June.
Once again the Irish News is indebted to our five key business partners for their valuable support, as well as to leading industry bodies the Recruitment and Employment Confederation (REC) and the Chartered Institute of Personnel Development (CIPD) for their continued endorsement of the awards initiative.
