The Qatar National Vision 2030 and the current National Development Strategy (2011 – 2016) are new drivers created to realize a diversified knowledge-based economy towards sustaining the economic prosperity. Recently, the Qatari government has targeted to reform government procurement regulations. However, it is not sufficient. Creating a favorable and friendly environment for SMEs to realize an appropriate share of government businesses is also a must. That is where Moushtarayat comes in.
Moushtarayat (the Government Procurement and Contracting Conference & Exhibition) is the first of its kind in Qatar. From 16 to 18 March 2015, the event opens up opportunities for SMEs to access Government, Semi-Government and private goods and services procurement.
Moushtarayat comes as a novel initiative, raised by Enterprise Qatar(Small and Medium Enterprises Development Company - EQ) to foster SMEs access to government procurement. The strategy aspires to realize economic diversification and private sector development through collective mechanisms, among which widening the market access to SMEs.
Significantly, Enterprise Qatar is organizing this national event as a collaborative and constant approach, in order to accelerate business partnerships between big buyers, whether governmental, semi-governmental or private, and SMEs. Furthermore, the conference elaborates the key supportive directions, introduced by the government, which facilitate SMEs access to public contracting.
